Plastic eye surgery: types of operations, prices, contraindications, restoration

Blepharoplasty, also known as plastic eye surgery, is one of the cheapest and easiest operations in aesthetic surgery. At the same time, this intervention can smooth out the most expressive signs of aging - overhanging and puffiness in the eyelids. During the operation, which also takes no more than an hour and a half, fat hernias are carefully removed, we usually call them "bags" under the eyes, excess skin is excised, and the problem of bruises under the eyes is eliminated. And if before the operation the patient was still looking at the world "from under his brows" under the weight of the swelling of the upper and lower eyelids, then at the exit his gaze becomes open, youthful "upturned" and fresh.

Limited plastic eye surgery

And, contrary to popular skepticism, the natural shape of the eyes after blepharoplasty does not change, they do not become artificially stretched, as, for example, in Jocelyn Wildenstein. To achieve such a result, you need to at least exceed the "limit" of plastic surgeries for a person, and there should be no more than four of them. How many of them Jocelyn had is unknown, but she clearly went far beyond the boundaries of what was permitted.

In general, plastic surgeons say that during the operation, the eyes are literally lengthened by 1-2 mm - these changes, as a rule, are not noticed even by the patients themselves. But if they are constantly pulled and increased in size by 1 cm, then they will inevitably begin to give out all the secrets so assiduously hidden.

But at the same time, experts immediately emphasize that the effect of eye plastic surgery lasts only for 5-7 years. Therefore, most of the patients here are people over 35 years old with visible age-related deformities, which cause significant discomfort to a person.

Another important point: blepharoplasty does not smooth out wrinkles in the corners of the eyes, also called "crow's feet". For these purposes, there are now various injections - from botulinum toxin to more natural vitamin cocktails based on hyaluronic acid. Today it is the easiest, fastest and most painless way to get rid of small wrinkles, not only around the eyes, but also on the forehead, in the area of the nasolabial fold, between the eyebrows.

Age-related changes are not the only indication for eye plastic surgery

before and after eye surgery

However, age as an indication for blepharoplasty is a rather relative criterion, since young people often turn to plastic surgeons who need eye plastic surgery against the background of premature signs of aging in this area. Early aging of this zone in them may be due to the following reasons:

  • genetic predisposition to rapid aging or to the formation of "bags" under the eyes;
  • liver and kidney disease;
  • "Unhealthy" lifestyle: eating too salty food, alcohol, smoking;
  • harmful cosmetic habits, such as stretching the skin when applying creams, the habit of not washing off makeup, lack of proper cosmetic care.

If a young patient does not need to remove excess skin, the surgeon will prefer modern plastic surgery techniques on the eye - transconjunctival blepharoplasty. This technique is the most non-traumatic and does not even require stitches. The only thing, in this way, you can remove only fat deposits (bags under the eyes) in the upper and lower eyelids, without excising other tissues.

To carry out the manipulations, the plastic surgeon twists the eyelid, makes a millimeter puncture on its inner side, which is called the conjunctiva, and removes fatty hernias through it, which are the reason for the formation of bags under the eyes. The puncture located on the mucous membrane is tightened shortly after the operation without any additional interventions, since the tissues here regenerate especially quickly. Usually, after such an operation, the patient is sent for discharge 1-1. 5 hours after the intervention.

Indications for plastic surgery for the eyes

  • fatty hernias in the upper and / or lower eyelid area;
  • "Bruises" under the eyes;
  • swelling in the periorbital region;
  • ptosis of the upper eyelid;
  • wrinkles and excess skin around the eyes;
  • asymmetry of the eyes (shape and cut);
  • a single fold in the upper eyelid area (typical for people with an Asian appearance)

Eye plastic surgery methods

In modern plastic surgery, there are two main methods of performing blepharoplasty:

  • Laser- cuts are made with a laser beam;
  • Surgical- "access" is opened with a scalpel.

Types of plastic surgery operations for eye correction

All interventions in plastic surgery on the eyes last no more than an hour and a half. They are performed either under general anesthesia (desirable for circular blepharoplasty), or under local anesthesia based on adrenaline and 1-2 lidocaine solutions. Within two hours after the operation, the patient must be in the clinic to exclude complications.

Sutures after eye plastic surgery are removed within 3-4 days - in the case of classical blepharoplasty, if the operation was carried out transconjunctivally, then those are not superimposed at all.

After blepharoplasty, bruising and some swelling around the eyes may persist for 1 to 2 weeks. In general, this is a normal phenomenon - you just need to wait it out.

Upper eyelid plastic surgery

Assumes eye correction in the upper eyelid area. As a result, "heavy" overhang is eliminated, excess skin is removed. For manipulations, the plastic surgeon makes an incision in the area of the natural fold located in the upper eyelid zone, after which he removes the excess skin flap, and, having opened access to the fatty tissues, he also removes them. The incision is sutured here with an inner seam and special thinnest threads. As a result, within 1-2 months the scar becomes completely invisible even for the patient himself.

Plastic surgery of the lower eyelid and elimination of bruises and bags under the eyes

With blepharoplasty on the lower eyelid, an incision is made 1-2 millimeters below the lash line. During the operation, the surgeon first cuts off part of the excess skin, after which he opens and removes tissue from the fatty sacs, which are fatty hernias. Sometimes also lower blepharoplasty, on the contrary, does not eliminate fat deposits, but slightly supplements, evenly distributing them over the "lower" zone.

After that, internal seams are applied, which, as in the first case, after about 1-2 months completely fade and become completely invisible.

Circular blepharoplasty

This is a simultaneous correction of the lower and upper eyelids.

Eye incision plastic surgery

before and after eye surgery

This plastic eye surgery technique is most in demand among people with an Asian appearance. The intervention, which is also called cantoplasty, allows you to transform a single fold of the upper eyelid, which is characteristic of the Asian population, into a double fold, similar to the one we have.

During the operation of plastic surgery of the eye incision, the epicanthus (the characteristic overhanging of the skin fold in the inner corner of the eye) is eliminated with the simultaneous formation of a double fold in the crescent shape. Excess fat deposits around the eyes are also removed.

But Asian appearance is not the only indication for plastic eye surgery, that is, in addition to correcting the fold of the upper eyelid. With such an intervention, you can correct the shape of the eyes, their incision, tighten their lowered outer corners. Cantoplasty is no more traumatic than other types of blepharoplasty.

Recovery period after plastic eye surgery

On average, the recovery period takes 2 to 6 weeks. People who are nonsmokers and who strictly follow all the postoperative recommendations of the surgeon can count on the minimum time:

  1. for 7-10 days, the patient must wear tinted glasses;
  2. for about 10-14 days, you need to stop wearing contact lenses in favor of glasses;
  3. avoid physical exertion, sudden movements, bending, this can provoke a rupture of the seams;
  4. at least for a month you need to give up cosmetic procedures;
  5. make-up is allowed only 10 days after the operation.

Contraindications for eye plastic surgery

  • cardiovascular diseases;
  • colds and infectious diseases;
  • oncology;
  • diabetes;
  • respiratory failure;
  • liver and kidney disease;
  • chronic diseases in the acute stage;
  • thyroid disease;
  • mental disorders;
  • violation of blood clotting;
  • pregnancy and lactation

To identify the factors that impede plastic surgery on the eyes, the following tests are taken:

  • general blood analysis;
  • blood for coagulogram;
  • blood chemistry;
  • the conclusion of the cardiologist based on the ECG;
  • endocrinologist's conclusion;
  • ultrasound of the abdominal organs;
  • blood test for HIV;
  • visiting a psychologist.

Plastic eye surgery price

In recent years, prices for plastic surgery have dropped markedly. This is mainly due to the technologization of this area, but not in any way with a decrease in the quality of the services provided. Previously, plastic surgeons operated mainly with only one scalpel and using outdated techniques, making large and deep incisions that left behind quite noticeable scars. Today, in place of these techniques, there are more affordable high-tech techniques that make it possible to quickly and minimally invasively carry out any surgical interventions. Due to this, the price of plastic surgery has become more affordable for ordinary people.
